Dry type transformer usually refers to the transformer whose iron core and windings are not impregnated in insulating oil. Compared with oil-immersed transformer, dry type transformer has better fire performance and avoids insulating oil pollution. It is mostly used in places with high fire protection and environmental protection requirements, such as hospitals, airports, stations and other places.
Dry type transformer features:
Fireproof, no oil pollution, can be installed in the city load center;
Automatic temperature monitoring and protection, fan forced cooling, long-term safe and reliable operation;
Smaller volume than oil-immersed transformer, light weight, easy to transport and lift;
Easy installation and disassembly, maintenance free.
Dry type transformers can be divided into:
1.Epoxy resin vacuum casting dry type transformer.
2. Vacuum impregnated dry type transformer.
In comparison, the epoxy resin vacuum casting dry type transformer by heating curing molding, mechanical strength is higher, better short-circuit resistance;
The casting type dry-type transformer adopts foil-wound coil, and the impact overvoltage characteristic is better than that of impregnated type cake coil, and the insulation strength of epoxy resin is much higher than that of air.
Impregnated dry-type transformer can use DuPont NOMEX insulating paper, the heat resistant temperature can reach C, the disadvantage is expensive;
Epoxy resin drying is better corrosion resistance, suitable for harsh environment.
